The Monbukagakusho offers scholarships to international students with recommendations from their host universities, under the following guidelines:
I. ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS
The Japanese Government (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology / MONBUKAGAKUSHO) offers the scholarship to Indonesian teachers who wish to study at universities (non-degree) in Japan from the academic year 2007 (October 2007) for one and a half year (includes a 6-month Japanese language training period).
Qualifications for the application are as follows:
(1) Applicants must be less than 35 years of age as of April 1, 2007.
(2) Applicants must be university or teacher training college graduates and must be teachers in active service of primary or secondary schools (including private schools) who have at least 5 years of experience in their terms of service as of April 1, 2007.
The scholarships were established in the year 2005/06, with generous donation from Dr Liu lit-mo, MBE, JP. Scholarships of HK$100,000 each per academic year will be awarded to successful applicants, covering tuition fee, hostel and other academic and living expenses.
Each scholarship is offered on an annual renewable basis and is tenable for a period of up to 3 years, subject to continued outstanding academic performance.
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has good academic standing and a good track record in community services. For candidates of comparable academic merits, the scholarship will be awarded to the candidate with better proven records of community services.
Established in 2003, the $500 Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarships are offered four times per year to honor the thousands of people who have died from mesothelioma due to exposure to asbestos, as well as the thousands of patients who are newly diagnosed with the disease ever year.
